How we prep before a session

What actually happens between booking a consultation and sitting down for the tattoo.

Back to journal

The consultation is where the piece gets designed, but there's a bit of work between that conversation and the actual appointment.

Your artist draws the final design at the size and placement you agreed on, usually a few days before the session, so there's time to send it over and adjust anything that doesn't sit right on you.

On the day, come in rested and fed – low blood sugar makes long sessions harder than they need to be. Avoid alcohol the night before; it thins your blood and makes the session messier for everyone.

We'll go over the stencil placement together before anything touches skin, and you can still ask for small adjustments at that point. Once you're both happy with it, that's when the actual tattooing starts.
